(UK, 1130384) Browse eventsAt Age Concern Central Lancashire we support people living in the Central Lancashire area. Our mission is to promoting the well-being of all local older people and helping to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience is our aim. As a local charity we strive to do this through a wide range of responsive support and services including: Day Support Services for elderly mentally frail and respite for carers; Services which support and inform people to live independently in a manner which enables choice, respect, dignity and responds to the needs of the individual; Educational, recreational, intergenerational and social activities which promote physical and mental wellbeing Many of our services are funded from income raised through donations, legacies and fundraising and are vital in allowing us to support older people to live as independently as they choose and are able. Without your donations we could not help people to access the welfare benefits they are entitled to or to participate in a lunch club in their local community. Age Concern Central Lancashires Community Support and Information team have been applauded after it was revealed that their work has resulted in over £1 million of extra benefits being claimed by local older people. Matthew Tomlinson, Transitional Care Team Officer said, "The teams staff and volunteers are trained to give benefits advice which is specifically aimed at older people. We can give this advice either in the persons home or at our offices in Preston. It is thanks to the staffs hard work and expertise that we can show that, in the last year, we helped older people across Central Lancashire access over £1million pounds in extra benefit payments." The Community Support and Information teams advice is free, independent and confidential and is available to anyone aged 55 or over. If you would like more information about our services and support, or about other ways in which you can support us, please see our website at www.55plus.org.uk

(UK, 1086698) Browse eventsWe are a dedicated Carers organisation providing services in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff. Our aim is to support as many carers as possible to be able to have a break from their caring role. We do this by providing well trained care support workers who take over the role of carer to enable the family carer to have some time to be themselves. Being a carer is hard, no matter how much you care for your spouse, friend or relative, it changes your life. We want to make sure we take some of the stress on ourselves from young carers, young adult carers, mums, dads, relatives. Everyone needs that break, to be able to go for a walk or meet a friend for a coffee. Without this army of unpaid carers the world would be a much poorer place and many are unrecognised as undertaking this work. We know, our staff are there taking on these roles, we make sure the same team of people visit to make our clients feel safe. We need your help, we want to be able to give more support, to as many people as we can. All our funds directly support the needs of the carer and cared for. Thanks for reading.
