PIPS Charity (UK, XT23768) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

We train people in suicide prevention skills so that people at risk of suicide are identified and linked to the professional help that in most cases will save their life.  We have five programmes and we never charge people for attending our programmes.  Our Preventing suicides in Your Community Programme was the first accredited suicide prevention training in the UK or Ireland.  Our newest programme is Mind Your Mate - it gives 16 - 24 year olds the skills to save their friends from suicide - it was developed because of the dramatic increase in young people taking their own lives. We also provide outreach support to those at risk of suicide - calling to peoples houses who are too distressed to travel to help.  We will accompany suicidal people to the hospital and medial appointments so that they get the help they need - too many at risk people do not attend appointments because their depression stops them. We provide free counselling to suicidal people, depressed non-suicidal people, children bereaved through suicide and adults bereaved through suicide.   We do not receive one penny from the government in core grants.
