GEMS Charity We are a Leicestershire based charity, founded in June 2012 by Andy and Sally Anderson of Kibworth after accompanying four close friends on weekly visits to the Osbourne Chemotherapy Suite at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Inspired by the hard work and dedication of the nurses and the potential life saving procedures that happen in the Suite it soon became apparent that they needed as much help as possible to make the surroundings comfortable and homely. The Oncology Unit treats 100's of people every day with all types of cancer and it relies heavily on the generous donations and help by the public.Be inspired by them and show your support to a local charity where all proceeds go directly to the Oncology Unit in the Osbourne Building. Our Aim: To help the patients and their supporters who visit the Oncology Unit in the Osborne Building at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) more comfortable. Our Promise: With close consultation with the staff on the ward we will endeavour to help with buying small, non-medical equipment and anything that will help to make the patient's time at the suite a little more comfortable during what can be a very difficult time for the patients and visitors supporting their friends and family. A patients quote"Having spent most of last year between the Osbourne outpatients clinic and the Osbourne day ward I know how much could be done improve the facilities. The staff are wonderful, but working in crowded and dull suroundings"

We are Octavia's Trust a small charitable trust set up to raise funds to provide postgraduate bursaries to people undertaking research into the causes and prevention of stillbirths and late stage miscarriages. Losing a baby is one of the worst things that can happen to a parent, but sadly it is all too common. We strongly believe that in order to get the best research we need the best researchers. However, high fees and lack of financial support put many potentially brillant researchers off from pursuing a master's degree which is mandatory for nearly all PhD programmes. By providing even small bursaries for deserving postgraduate students we hope to encourage more people to move into this field of research. Please donate to support our cause. Our mission is to help everyone affected by Chromosome 18 disorders to achieve their full potential, and to lead happy, healthy and productive lives. It is closely associated with the Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society in San Antonio, Texas, as well as having ties to the associations throughout Europe that deal with all rare chromosome disorders (such as Unique in the UK, Valentin-APAC in France, Leona e.V. in Germany, Genetic Alliance and Eurordis). Our website http//:www.chromosome18eur.org allows families from across Europe to register as members and to communicate with other famiies facing the same challenges every day. We are now organising our third family conference to be held in England in the summer of 2014, where for a long weekend parents, siblings, grandparents, carers and affected men, women and children will laugh, learn and play together. For many families, this will be the first time they have met others with children just like their affected child. For most, it will be a life changing experience. Your help in fundraising will make that possible!!!! Thank you
