A great deal of our resources go into transporting on average 30 patients (150 runs) a week, on a 24/7 one-to-one basis, to hospitals in the West of Scotland for treatment and consulting appointments, these can be a great burden both financially and practically on sufferers. Patients take part in a variety of group activities designed to break down feelings of helplessness and isolation and take control in improving their health and managing side effects, or receive free complementary therapies to reduce stress and improve feelings of wellbeing. We rely on the generosity of local people through donations and performing fundraising tasks as well as supporting our local charity shops. We need your help and support more now the Ambulance Service is cutting back in patient transport.

Doctor Richard Graham, consultant radiologist at The RUH describes Positron as a revolutionary type of scan which can have a significant effect on patients’ treatments, for statistics show that a third of cancer treatments are modified following Positron scans because of the precise nature of the images which are produced by such scans.   Since the charity was established it has only ever been run by volunteers and as a consequence, a major part of what is raised can be spent on providing facilities for cancer patients at the RUH. To ensure that the Positron scanner is in constant use the scanner will also be used:  This appeal provides those who live and work in the area with a wonderful opportunity to ensure that those of their neighbours and colleagues who require treatment for cancer are given access to the latest equipment which will dramatically improve outcomes.
