The University of Manchester has a rich and proud heritage dating back to 1824. We are the birthplace of many discoveries which have had a major impact on society, including the development of the first modern computer, the splitting of the atom by Rutherford, the first degree in nursing, and the birth of modern economics and medical ethics. Our history is closely intertwined with the visionary philanthropists who made our existence possible, and now your support can make a difference to students and researchers, on campus and beyond, every day. You can ensure that talented students can have a Manchester education, regardless of their background. You can accelerate research into some of the greatest issues facing our society today, including preventing disease, alleviating poverty and solving the looming energy crisis. By choosing to support one of our priority areas, you can make your impact on our students, communities and economy, ensuring that the fruits of scholarship resonate throughout society. Thank you for choosing to support The University of Manchester. The impact of your generosity will be felt for years to come.
