Big House is London's first residential facility to help the long-term homeless break away from street life. It is the result of 3 years work (1999-2002) by agency staff, clients and friends. They converted the property (56 Camberwell Rd, SE5) into self-contained accommodation for ten residents with communal social and educational areas. Since the official opening by The Prince of Wales in 2002, 36 people have successfully 'exited the streets'. 10 are current residents and 26 have progressed into independent tenancy.
