Rhodesian Ridgeback Welfare Trust (UK, 1042184) Browse events

YTD Raised: £2,639.40

The Rhodesian Ridgeback Welfare Trust was formed in 1994 to relieve the suffering and distress of Rhodesian Ridgebacks who are in need of help and to provide re-homing if necessary. The bulk of our work is finding new homes for pure-bred Ridgebacks which, for a variety of reasons, are unable to remain with their owners. Some Rhodesian Ridgebacks are simply victims of circumstance, perhaps a bereavement, break up of a relationship, loss of job or home or a family move overseas. These dogs are usually trouble free and settle easily into a new environment. Others come from unsuitable homes where they may have been mistreated or allowed to develop bad habits which would need to be corrected. In our experience, very few Ridgebacks are un-trainable and having won their confidence, a rescue Ridgeback will reward you with loyalty, affection and a great deal of enjoyment. We have developed procedures which with careful home-checking and dog assessment, aim to place each individual dog in an appropriate home for the rest of its life. We promote responsible Rhodesian Ridgeback ownership and discouragement of the irresponsible breeding of the breed. We provide or maintain kennels, rescue homes, animal hospitals, sanctuaries or other facilities for the reception and care of unwanted Rhodesian Ridgebacks together with veterinary care if required. The Welfare Trust is entirely dependent on the generosity of you and is supported in its work by volunteers throughout the country who assess dogs, check homes and help with transport, emergency kennelling or fostering.
