Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team needs to raise around £30,000 a year just to cover running costs (things such as medicine, vehicle maintenance, training, electricity and heating). Replacing a Land Rover is even more expensive. We really do value your support.

(UK, 1094043) Browse eventsPidley Mountain Rescue Team is a charity that aims to improve the quality of life and independence of disabled people within Huntingdonshire allowing them the same opportunities and freedom as non-disabled people. Find us on Facebook, go to our website and view our YouTube video featuring the world-famous Pidley International Teddy Bear Freefall Championship. We provide specialised equipment for children and adults to develop and progress their personal mobility and homelife while raising awareness of the needs of disabled people in our community. We raise up to £18,000 annually, averaging 15 rescues each year. Examples of equipment supplied include wheelchairs, electric scooters, specialised trikes, paediatric buggies, adaptive computer software and hardware, and sensory clothing and toys. We have over 1,000 members - once someone has joined Pidley Mountain Rescue Team, for a donation of only £10, membership is for life. Local companies, organisations, sports clubs, local community and individuals provide most of our income through sponsorship and donations supplemented by the charity’s own fund-raising activities. The charity is based in the village of Pidley and was originally founded in the late 1970s. The village of Pidley is on the edge of the Fens in Huntingdonshire, and is at its highest only 88 feet above sea level. The charity’s name was created when local villager Bob Johnson’s car broke down on one of the four slopes leading to the village. His charitable rescuers pushed the car up the ‘mountain’ home - and the Pidley Mountain Rescue Team was formed. Registered charity number: 1094043
