Andrew, or ‘Bart’ to his friends, was the person that everyone turned to for guidance, from beginners to people at the top of their game. Founded by Sir Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy OBE & Andrew’s wife Leah, the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation will work to honour Andrew’s life and legacy by encouraging youngsters into sailing. Supporting the next generation was something Andrew was extremely passionate about.

It currently serves over 8000 athletes who participate in local sports programmes, then regional, national and international competitions. The National Games are held every 2 years alternating between summer and winter games and then World Games every 4 years. The Special Olympics City of York committee was established in 2007. We are made up of local athletes with learning disabilities, parents of athletes, and other volunteers who all want to make a difference. We are primarily responsible for organising, promoting and running regular training sessions and supporting young people and adults with learning disabilities. This enables them to compete at their level in local, regional and national competitions.

As the local branch of Scottish Disability Sport, Perth & Kinross Disability Sport meet regularly to discuss the needs of local athletes and to co-ordinate the provision of local competitions and programmes. Specific branch aims include to: - co-ordinate, develop and promote sports and physical activity amongst people with a disability in the Perth & Kinross area - to strengthen and extend the network of contacts, clubs and development groups throughout the Perth & Kinross area - to raise the profile of sport for people with a disability within the Perth & Kinross area and beyond Perth & Kinross Disability Sport are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been nominted as an Official Charity of The 2014 Ryder Cup after signing agreements with Ryder Cup Europe alongside Shona Robison, Minister for Sport and Commonwealth Games. The other appointed charities are Friends of St Margaret's Hospital, Quarriers and The McGinley Foundation. Perth & Kinross Disability Sport are very much looking forward to working with Ryder Cup Europe and the other charities chosen to represent the tournament at Gleneagles next year. Official Charity status will allow us to develop into new areas and support more people to take part in sport.

YTD Raised: £869.22Give it Your Max (GIYM) was set up in memory of Max Stotesbury who died aged 18 in a car accident. He was a keen tennis player and a qualified PTR tennis coach who assisted at the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative (WJTI) in his spare time. The charity pays for qualified coaches to introduce tennis to primary age school children in state schools. Clinics are held within the schools and at clubs and other venues during after school hours and in the holidays. Most of the children are from underprivilaged backgrounds. In additions to locating kids with potential talent for the game, the aim is to provide new interests in life for the children and to improve their levels of concentration and self confidence. Give it your Max centres have been set up in Reading, Canterbury (East Kent), Peckham and Birmingham. An annual contribution to coaching at the Harris Academy, Merton is also made. Approximately £15,000 p.a. is spent at each centre. Rachel Barnett was introduced to tennis during a GIYM session at Churchend Primary School, Tilehurst, Reading in 2008. In July 2010, she represented Berkshire in the County Cup as first seed and won all her matches, many against national level players. For further information, go to giveityourmax.org
