But its not all about children, we have squads racing all over the country and for GB and we have a lively recreational squad for those coming to the sport later in life. We are currently raising funds to build a gym at the club so that we can offer much needed land training facilities for our members. This is a vital part of rowing nowadays in order to compete at the highest level and to keep everyone fit when the river floods and we can't go out in the boats. Last year over 5,500 participants took part in our programmes or activities, including over 250 young people with disabilities. Battle Back Appeal - Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights Charity Battle Back helps disabled service men and women to use sport and adaptive adventurous training to aid in their rehabilitation and return to an active life. BattleBack can encourage and start the development of injured service personal who want to compete in sport but it lacks the budget to pay for the specialised equipment, coaching, travel and other costs which are needed in order to participate. The Wheelwrights are working to fill this funding gap - we provide grants which enable injured service personnel to participate in adventurous training and compete in disabled sport. Some of those we help will compete with Team GB in the 2012 and 2014 Paralympics. Others have modest aspirations but all of our grants will help those who want to use sport to aid in their recovery. We have an ambitious fund raising goal for the coming months and welcome your support of this wonderful cause.
