(UK, 1092545C) Browse eventsZoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Coventry has been open since 2011. We are the only organisation in the UK to provide palliative, respite and end of life care to children aged 0-5years who struggle with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Our specially trained care team provide 24-hour, one-to-one care on a short-term regular basis, enabling their parents and family to have a much needed break from their full time care responsibilities, alleviating the pressures that these families experience on a daily basis. We include multi-sensory, hydrotherapy and soft play in our care plans to make sure that we engage children in leaning activities and therapy, and have a family suite available for parents to use should they need to be close to their child. Our hospice in Coventry will benefit from your generosity today - thank you for helping us to continue to provide this vital service to the Midlands. We receive very little Government or NHS funding, so every penny that you donate will make a direct difference to the lives of these children. (UK, 1114353) Browse eventsArt Refuge; the place for spirits to soar! The Art Refuge Programme provides Tibetan refugee children with a protected time and space in which to play and make art. After making the arduous journey across the Himalaya's in search of an education and a brighter future, the children arrive at a reception centre in Nepal. These centres provide a safe and nuturing space in which they can simply be children again. Within the Art Refuge programme they are supported by adult facilitators who have undertaken the same journey into exile and therefore can understand and relate to the children’s fears, anxieties and need for comfort. For these children, whose lives have been disrupted, playing and making art is an essential therapeutic activity which can help to reduce stress and establish normalcy. Clearly, play and art activities of and in themselves, cannot change stressful circumstances. What such activities can do, however, is enable the children to engage in meaningful interactions, thereby helping them to cope with stressful experiences through shifting the balance of social, environmental and psychological factors in a positive direction. Art Refuge is the only organization officially working with the children in the reception centres in this way, and we therefore have a unique role to play in their transition from Tibet. Currently, we depend entirely on donations. All of the contributions recieved go towards ensuring the centres and the local tutors are enabled to support the Tibetan refugees. This means providing the required supplies for the activities, maintaining the classrooms and most importantly paying for the local tutors to work with the children.

(UK, SC005754) Browse eventsOur highly skilled and dedicated Social Work staff work tirelessly to meet the needs of children for whom adoption or fostering is the only way to ensure they become part of a loving and caring family. Formed in 1922, St Andrew’s Children’s Society is the largest adoption agency working in Scotland. Our services are flexible and responsive to the widely differing needs of the children themselves and of the individuals, couples and families seeking to adopt. We welcome adopters from the broad spectrum of society, regardless of ethnic origin, religious persuasion or sexual orientation, in line with the provisions of the Adoption & Children (Scotland) Act 2007. There are far more children in need of adoption or fostering than there are suitable homes for them. St Andrew’s Children’s Society plays a key role in helping to maximise opportunities for adoption and fostering in Scotland, enabling many children to make a new start in life. The adopters we work with live throughout Central Scotland but the children we place come from throughout the UK. We work closely with adoption agencies nationwide, through the British Association of Adoption and Fostering (BAAF).
