Orchard Vale Trust, OVT, provides residential homes for people with learning disabilities. Around 2% of the population have a learning disability, of these only a few will achieve independence. OVT provides a caring environment and support to meet the individual needs of those in its care, for the rest of their lives if necessary.

Friends of TREAD works in partnership with TREAD India Trust to give hope and a new future to some of the most vulnerable and needy children and families in South India. Who are we? Friends of TREAD (Trinity Rural Educational Assistance Development) is a UK registered charity which was set up ten years ago to support the work of TREAD India Trust. It is run voluntarily by 8 trustees. TREAD India trust is based in Bhadrachalam, Andhra Pradesh and has 5 trustees led by Ranji, widow of founder Dr Sounder Raj and now its director. What do we do? TREAD aims to help relieve poverty, advance education and provide medical aid in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and nearby areas in South India, the work being especially targeted at children, young people and their families. With the help of 12 ponies and over 120 volunteers, the Riding for the Disabled Association, Abingdon Group dispenses a unique therapy to over 100 children and adults, aged from 2 to 70. Riding, driving or vaulting bring a new dimension to restricted lives, encourage independence, give confidence and generally improve each individual's well-being.

The UK Lesbian & Gay Immigration Group (UKLGIG) is a charity created in 1993 that promotes equality and dignity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people who seek asylum in the UK, or who wish to immigrate here to be with their same-sex partner. Our activities include: Supporting LGBT asylum seekers: providing support & information via our helpline and in person; referring to solicitors; organising a monthly support meeting; visiting detention centres and running other social support projects. Research & Policy: monitoring and researching relevant (legal) developments and issues; working to ensure LGBT people are treated equally and with dignity in the asylum process; seeking to improve the quality of UKBA decision making, and networking with organisations and individuals working on related issues in UK and internationally. Training & Information: providing training and information on LGBT asylum issues to relevant service providers in the refugee and LGBT community, solicitors and other legal advisers, UKBA staff and the judiciary. We also continue our same-sex partner immigration work by providing support and information via our website, an online forum and a monthly meeting, as well as monitoring legal and policy developments and responding to these as and when required.

Where and how we work: Susila Dharma Britain (SDB) supports a wide range of projects in Britain, Latin America, South Asia and Africa. In Britain SDB has supported projects aimed at young offenders and disenfranchised young people, as well as a nursing home and a social enterprise assisting older members of society. Overseas SDB has supported a pre-school for slum dwellers in India, a youth employment programme in Columbia, a prosthetic limb factory for land mine victims on the Thai/Burmese border, a community health facility in the Democratic of Congo and a participatory rural development project in Indonesia. Shining Faces in India is a UK registered charity giving aid to the Indian Christian Mission Center (ICMC), a Christian orphanage near Salem in southern India. The founder of the orphanage, Pastor Jayaraj Krishnan and his wife Christy have devoted more than 25 years of care to orphaned and destitute children who are brought to the mission - their commitment is truly inspirational. Today the orphanage cares for over 800 needy and very poor children irrespective of caste, creed, community and religion.
