We respond to the needs of our local community by providing services for children, young people and families which help them to improve their lives. 2013 sees Wythenshawe Community Initiative celebrate our 20th Anniversary. WCI is a truly local charity and was the brainchild of local residents in 1993 who were concerned about the high level of need and lack of resources for families in Woodhouse Park. Supported by the local minister a steering group was formed and Wythenshawe Community Initiative (then known as Woodhouse Park Family Centre) was born. Since then we have gone on to support over 4,000 families and created employment opportunities for 44 people, as well as countless volunteering and sessional positions. We hope you will agree that this is a fantastic achievement, particularly in the current funding climate, and we are planning to mark this success in a number of ways thoughout the year. Not least of which is our 20th Anniversary Fundraising Appeal, aiming to raise £20,000!
