Friends of Salhouse Church (UK, XN83380311) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Friends of Salhouse Church has as its main objective the preservation and enhancement of our beautiful fifteenth century church, All Saints, in Salhouse, Norfolk. This church is a priceless asset to the whole community, which it has served for over six hundred years, and we want to ensure that it lasts another six hundred (at least!) Started only in July 2011, the Friends have already chalked up two major successes.  In December 2011 we laid on a water supply, thanks to a local farmer who kindly let us tap into his bore hole.  Then in April 2012, we worked with the diocesan WiSpire team to get a broadband transmitter installed on the church tower, giving us an internet hot-spot within the church (with an eye to on-line broadcasts). Our current aim is to help raise funds towards the planned extension to the church.  This will provide a kitchen and toilets - facilities which were somehow overlooked when the church was first built.  Once we have these, the church will be able to host concerts, hold workshops and generally serve the local community. See our website for details of our SINGATHON on September 29-30

Christ Church was established by Henry VIII in 1546. It is a unique joint foundation of a college in the University of Oxford and the cathedral of the diocese. Christ Church also has a designated art gallery, housing one of the most important private collections of Old Master paintings and drawings in Britain. It was open to the public since 1767 which makes it one of the first art collections in the country that offered free access to all interested art lovers. Our aim has been to preserve and display the collection for future generations. Among the works are nine fragments of a large panel depicting the lives of the hermits in the desert. These paintings are now in need of extensive conservation treatment. In order to be able to carry this out we have launched a fundraising campaign to SAVE THE HERMITS. We invite you to be a part in our vision. Morning Star Children's Chairy needs your prayer and financial support. Come and be blessed by sharing your love with these destitute children. Deep Roots - St Peter's (UK, 1128016) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Donations through Virgin Money Giving are designated to support the Deep Roots youth discipleship programme. This is a Christian interdenominational organisation working in Uganda to develop young people’s relationships with Christ, encouraging discipleship and equipping the youth to understand and live out their faith. In much the same way as plants need deep roots to survive and flourish, young Christians need to develop deep roots if they are to be fruitful. Many young people hear the word of God in Uganda and respond; far more than in the West. However, opportunities to strengthen their faith and relationship with Christ are often lacking, especially in rural areas. As a result, many of the youth face the cares of their world (the legacy of armed conflict, poverty, disease and the conflicting pulls of both western and traditional cultures) with ungrounded faith, largely unsupported and unprepared. Through working with the youth, Deep Roots aims to change a nation through the transformation of individuals and communities who will practically demonstrate an alternative to the lifestyles and life choices that have lead to scourges such as HIV and AIDS, corruption, robbery, poverty and domestic violence that are sadly all too common in local society.

Elsfield PCC is responsible for co-operating with the incumbent, the Revd Anthony Price, in promoting the pastoral, evangelical, social and ecumenical mission of the Church throughout the parish. It is also responsible for the maintenance of the Church building in Elsfield. The parish church of St Thomas of Canterbury has stood in this small rural village, North-East of Oxford, since at least 1122. In 1849 and 1859, when the Revd Richard Gordon was vicar, the building was restored in the English Gothic style and new seating was installed under the supervision of G. E. Street. The Salviati mosaics - It is thought that the mosaics were installed behind the altar in the 1860s or 1870s. The central panel on the east wall depicts the Last Supper after Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of the same subject in Milan. The mosaics are by Antonio Salviati (1816-1890), the founder of a glass making and mosaic company based at Murano near Venice, who installed mosaics in a large number of churches and cathedrals in Great Britain including the Wolsey Chapel at Windsor Castle, the Albert Memorial, St Pauls Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. Fundraising - The Elsfield PCC is raising £50,000 to restore these outstanding mosaics, described by scholars as a "National treasure".

90+is a Sports Ministry that exists to see people transformed through knowing Jesus Christ. We support the Local church across the Uk to use sport as a tool to share the Gospel. Through discipleship, events and outreach opportunities we are helping the church use what is an international language in sport for Gospel purposes. For some sport is an identity a culture and a lifestyle. However the church can use this as a tool to reach out to the sports community to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Sport can also be a great tool to 'do life' with one another and so 90+ helps to encourage the use of sport as a missional lifestyle. 90+ also runs a discipleship programme for christian athletes. The 2 month academy programme trains, equips and teaches these athletes about using their platform as pro's for Gods glory. Following the 2months, 90+ aims to send out these sports men into clubs and teams as chaplains. More information on the work of 90+ can be found at www.ninetyplusministries.com Giving page for James Jaggard at 90+ ministries
