Building Project - The first phase, installation of the new heating system, began on 7th September 2015. The church of St Mary the Virgin, a Grade I listed building, is one of the grandest and finest churches in Essex and plays a key role in the life of Saffron Walden. We have begun a major project of internal works to make the church building amore welcoming space for its many visitors and regular users. Our plans include an upgrade of the heating throughout the church, provision of a toilet, suitable for disabled persons and baby changing, creation of better facilities for serving tea and coffee and relocation of the tomb of Thomas Audley to make it more accessible to our many visitors. The full cost of all these works is in the region of £500,000 and success depends upon the generous support of many hundreds of people and organisations. It is a near impossible task for our parishioners alone.Whatever you can give, however large or small, will be greatly appreciated, and further increase in value if you are able to gift aid it.Revd.
