Charity providing tangible symbols of remembrance for baby loss parents. Supporting families who's baby dies at any stage during pregnancy or soon after birth. We are a small charity run by a group of women who have experienced baby loss. We are passionate about helping women, their partners, family and friends to find healing after their loss. We believe it is crucial to know you are not alone, that there is support, that there is a place for us to share our feelings with people who understand. After my precious daughter Lily was stillborn on October 21st 2011 I knew one day I would do something to try and help other parents experiencing this devastating loss. I had time to prepare for this most tragic of outcomes to pregnancy, many do not. Even with the knowledge that Lily would probably not survive birth I still found it hard to gather things together that we wanted to have at her birth. I had a short time to make and collect as many memories as possible to remember my daughter, and to last me a lifetime. With this struggle in mind, we decided to provide hospitals with Remembrance Boxes to give to parents who lose their baby, containing items that enable them to build a collection of memories. Items that become cherished treasures and ultimately help promote healing. They are specifically taylored to meet the different needs appropriate to the age of the baby. They are a beautiful, nurturing gift of love and care with helpful information and resources. Recognising that women who lose their babies in miscarriage are faced with leaving hospital with nothing to honour the little life they have just lost, we have made Miscarriage Care Packages. These contain items to honour their little one and to nurture themselves, as well as resources and information. We are committed to raising awareness of baby loss in our community and to helping break the silence surrounding miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death. We provide a support group for bereaved parents that is a safe place to share and receive support and understanding. We meet regularly on an informal basis.

Communicare in Southampton is a registered charity based in Southampton. What is Communicare's purpose/mission? Our aim is to enrich the lives of those in need in our community by providing emotional and practical support. We do this through our wonderful team of volunteers, who express their care for those in the local community by offering their time for activities including visiting and befriending, taking people shopping, DIY, garden clearance, transport to hospital and doctors appointments etc. Why should I give to Communicare? We do not charge our clients a penny for the services they recieve, and therefore are dependent on donations and grants to meet our essential outgoings. Although we use volunteers wherever possible, expenses such as transport and office admin are unavoidable, so your support to help us meet these costs is greatly valued and appreciated. Please consider whether you could give a small amount per month to Communicare, as this helps us to plan for the future and ensure we can open up the service to as many people as possible. Where is Communicare based? We are a local charity operating in the City of Southampton. We have two offices - one in Woolston, and another in Shirley. These two offices serve the whole city, and are open Monday to Thursday. Want to know more? Visit www.communicareinsouthampton.org.uk for more information about us.
