YTD Raised: £250.00

The Alcohol & Drug Service works in partnership to support people affected by substance misuse to make positive change. We’ve helped thousands of people in Humberside, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire on the road to recovery. These are individuals from every walk of life that struggle with alcohol or drug misuse. But it is also their families, communities, the NHS and our society that benefits when the cycle of addiction is broken. Recovery reduces the social, health, employment and economic costs of substance abuse. This is why the Alcohol & Drug Service is here. Thank you for supporting us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If you know someone who is struggling with substance misuse, they are notalone. Right now, more than 1.1 million men and women are dependent on alcohol. The decision to change and get help can be very difficult. The Alcohol & Drug Service supports people through this stage. We’re funded by individual fundraising efforts, charitable grants and the NHS. Even though we’ve been transforming the lives of people affected by drugs or alcohol misuse for over 30 years, some people may not have heard of us. This is because we always work in partnership – and often deliver our services which have their own names. Our services are also known as: The East Riding Partnership - The East Riding; Foundations - North East Lincolnshire and ASPIRE - Doncaster. But whatever the projects are called, we are focused on supporting people who want to make a positive change. Project Le Monde (UK, 1138815) Browse events

YTD Raised: £240.71

Project le Monde is a Surrey-based educational charity, run by volunters, to support educational projects in Uganda.  We beleive that by providing under privilidged communities in Uganda with good quality school buildings can significantly improve the educational experience and life prospects of thousands of children.  Our great fundraising event this year is a 1000 mile bike ride to support our oorphan project.  The ride will take 2 weeks, and 9 hardy cyclists from London, Cornwall, Zurich and Kenya will set off in August to cycle from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania through the Usambara mountains, around the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, then cross the Ngorogoro Crater and Serengeti in a four wheel drive, then back on the bikes to ride around the base of Lake Victoria, and finally up into Uganda crossing the equator to reach Kampala.    We will be meeting our orphans in Kampala for a celebratory lunch.  All the money we receive will go towards building a home and a school for them, so that they are given a better start in life.  The children are all aids orphans, and they have no living relative willing or able to help them, which means they are currently living on the streets of Kampala.  Please help us reach our fundraising goal of £5,000 to give the project a great start. Land has been purchased for the buildings, and initial plans for accommodation blocks and a schoolroom drawn up, so work can commence as soon as we have the money available.  Please see our photo gallery for more pictures of the orphans, and our partner in the project Judith Babirye, a well known gospel singer in Uganda. Thank you !  Keep updated on the riders progress by reading our blog!
