The Norfolk and Norwich - El Viejo Friendship Link (UK, 1156787) Browse events

YTD Raised: £190.00

Set up to support the poorest families in the El Viejo region of Nicaragua. Currently a major project for the charity is working with the council in El Viejo, local teachers and a local employee of the charity to provide schoolbags and school materials for 200 selected children of primary age so they can go to school. Without this support, the families could not afford for the child to be at school. Please see our web-site for more information. Volunteers wanted - Spanish speakers able and willing to translate our correspondence with our link representative in Nicaragua. We have to pay for this service, much appreciated but costly to us as a small organisation. We support 200 children to go to school, to learn to read and write, an essential start for their future. A Guardian article in 2015 highlighted how much this is needed: https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2015/may/19/poverty-nicaragua-children-school-education-child-labour    Our admin costs are very small, but our expenditure is outstripping our income so every penny counts! Thanking you in anticipation of donations to our cause...... Sponsored Bike Ride Saturday 24 September - see Events for details.

YTD Raised: £184.50

At Christ Church Pre-School Playgroup we aim to provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age in a happy and relaxed yet organised environment where children can become used to spending time away from their parents, learn to play together and take their place as members of a group. We work in partnership with parents to help the children to learn and develop and the service we offer to children and their families promotes equality and values diversity. We believe the education of young children is founded in play. The children are provided with a wide range of stimulating and absorbing activities, which we believe will help build their self-esteem, self-confidence, independence and creativity while developing their observation, enjoyment and appreciation of the world around them. As a registered charity, we rely on fundraising activities for additional income, which is invested directly into the Pre-School’s funds to benefit our children.

Ashridge Nursery Parents Association (UK, 279999) Browse events

YTD Raised: £175.00

Ashridge Nursery Parents Association was established 30 years ago as a community based registered charity to provide and advance Nursery education for children from the age of three until they reach compulsory school age. Our highly qualified staff of nine has over 100 years of experience in providing quality care and educational provision to the under fives. To ensure quality, the Association has a policy of ensuring a minimum staff to child ratio of 1:6 which is significantly higher than the legal requirement. Local Authority funding of children’s entitlement to “free” Early Years education is significantly below the costs of providing the service to children and their parents. As a consequence the Association is heavily reliant on fund raising in order to maintain quality while remaining viable. The Association is very grateful to all the fund raisers and sponsors who support and enable it to continue it’s work. For more information please do visit our website.

Christ The Saviour PTA. (UK, 289889) Browse events

YTD Raised: £171.00

We are fortunate at our school to have a PTA that is and has been an integral part of the school community for many of years. In its time the PTA has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education experience and the school’s facilities. However, our PTA is about much more than simply fundraising. The PTA exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It is fun too - just ask any of the Committee members or PTA helpers. All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if you only have a small amount of time available. All families are automatically members of the Christ the Saviour PTA when your child(ren) joins our school. The PTA is extremely conscious of the ethos and diversity of our school, and we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect this. Not all of our events are run as fundraisers we also plan community events to help build the school community.

The Dreike Scholarship Fund has a simple aim - to help Africans who live near wildlife reserves to enjoy a decent education; allowing them to improve their quality of life and give them the opportunity to fulfill their ambitions and potential. We do this by providing funds for individual students to attend school who would otherwise not be able to enjoy the education they deserve. We currently support 36 children and one student nurse in Zambia, 16 children in Rwanda and 8 more children and one student nurse in Uganda. Our scholarships pay for any school fees, uniforms, school books and other materials. We help children who we feel are most deserving and too poor to otherwise afford to go to school. Our future aim is to continue to provide funds for these 60 children & young people so that they, and others, receive an education they would otherwise not have access to. Please help educate ONE AFRICAN CHILD...
