The mission of JBWS is the prevention of domestic violence through the protection and empowerment of the victim, the rehabilitation of family members, and the education of the public about domestic violence and its consequences. Services include a 24-hour helpline, safe house, transitional living, counseling, children's services, batterers' intervention, vocational counseling and more. JBWS is the lead partner for the Morris Family Justice Center, a coordinated, one-stop domestic violence resource provided by multiple service agencies. The comprehensive services are provided by a professional staff, along with 120 volunteers.

WRHS provides a free service to over one million people, covering a region of 132,000 square kilometres. Two helicopters are based in Newcastle and one in Tamworth. Each year the Helicopter Service performs over 1000 missions, rescuing people from accident scenes and transporting critically ill patients from small, rural hospitals to large tertiary hospitals, primarily the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and the Base Hospital in Tamworth.
