(UK, XT12570) Browse eventsOur team started helping children early 2004 by empowering and strengthening communities though playing capoeira. This was initially achieved by visiting schools and working in partnership with other charities. Capoeira Academy UK was teaching four classes a week to children in 2008 and following on from this we opened our charity (Capoeira Academy UK Charity-XT12570) to achieve our dreams of assisting children and young people to have a more active and fun childhood through the benefit of capoeira. Since 2008 we have continued to provide children’s capoeira classes both in schools and out of school hours to encourage continuing practice of capoeira and health promotion. This has enabled more than 10 children to participate in our yearly event the “batizado” where their efforts are rewarded with grading belts. Capoeira Academy UK is chaired by Edgar Leite , more frequently known as Instrutor Bombril. Edgar has been teaching capoeira for over 10 years starting in his home town of Albufeira, Portugal under the supervision of his teacher Mestre Namorado. Often a few of Edgar’s experianced students assist in the children’s classes, all of whom are CRB certified.

We distribute over 1 tonne of food a week in Bournemouth, and with that great work comes a financial cost. Our costs are kept to a minimum, and where possible we get food donated and we run on the kinda and amazing work that volunteers do.However, in order to meet the needs of those in our town and run the operation, we have to rent a warehouse, and employ 2 part-time members of staff (who usually end up working full time hours!). We also run a delivery van, and have various associated insurance and admin costs. Charity No: 1143446 Find out more Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Bournemouth-Foodbank-138400086226989/?fref=ts

(UK, 1091537) Browse eventsWe area voluntary organisation which is part of ALSAR (Association of Lowland Search and Rescue). We are normally called out by Suffolk Constabulary, but we also respond to calls from other search teams in neighbouring counties. We mainly search for vulnerable missing persons (known as mispers). SULSAR is a registered charity & therefore we rely on donations, although members are volunteers and they require specialist equipment and therefore donations are vital. SULSAR was founded in April 1998 by Kevin Waterson, after he had cause to use the services of Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team and the Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA), when a group of walkers were caught in bad weather. He was so impressed with the efficient way in which the rescue team and dogs worked that he started to think how useful such techniques would be in finding such people as Alzheimer"s sufferers and missing children. An initial meeting took place with Suffolk Police to check the feasibility of such an idea within Suffolk. A core group was formed with friends who had shown an interest in the idea. They received search training from experienced Mountain Rescue Council (MRC) Search Managers through ALSAR and from the Milton Keynes Search and Rescue Team. That initial core group, went on to receive specialist training from MRC tutors and experts from the USA at the University of Wales in Bangor, and attended an internationally recognised search course, being presented with certificates in "Search Management" by the MRC. We are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and in all weathers!
