The Park will be a haven for wildlife, an educational resource and will provide a base for celebration / fundraising activities.The land was purchased in April 2016, the governing charity formed in August 2016. In September 2016 planning permission was gained and works begun to create The Park. The Park will open to the public on the 2nd of September 2017.Funding has been secured for all elements except for some of the play equipment.Action for Communities in Rural England (ACRE) selected us as one of only ten projects (out of 450 they worked with in 2016) to be a case study. They stated we represented the very best of community grassroots action. Our vision:The Park, Kilnwick - A thriving public space for all the community to meet, play, exercise and celebrate; combining facilities for the community, education needs, encouraging wildlife and offering volunteering opportunities to all.Our objectives and services we will deliver:To provide the local community with an improved local environment where they can safely exercise, socialise and play.To enhance biodiversity through native woodland and habitat creation alongside a wildlife educational resource for families, schools and playgroups.To encourage local young people to make a positive change in their lives by developing confidence, skills and abilities through volunteering.To create an inclusive focal hub for local groups to utilise and for community celebration events.
