When emergencies strike, we act and mobilise. We respond immediately to ensure the most vulnerable are protected, their basic needs are met, and lives are saved. Our work is driven by immediate response and effective delivery, but we stay long after a disaster to help restore lives. As an NGO we are guided by our drive to help others, not profit. When emergencies strike, we act to ensure to save lives and protect the vulnerable. When the emergency is over, we stay and help restore lives. We were founded in 2011 in the UK by a group of doctors whose sole focus was to provide assistance and aid to those devastated by conflict. For over a decade we have built an expertise in responding to humanitarian needs to benefit the most vulnerable people affected by conflict, disasters and extreme poverty.

WALKING TOGETHER The Walkathon tradition at Mount Carmel has always combined competition, physical fitness along the lakefront, and the participation of Mount Carmel students in bettering their school through raising critical funds. The 2017 Walk will be no different, and expanding the reach will help drive the best results yet for current and future students. Funds raised from the Walkathon provide resources for students and families that meet unexpected financial hardship, provide resources for Mount Carmel’s 21st century learners throughout the school year, and build investment in the future of the school from the future alumni who will invest in the school down the road.

We work specifically with the Piam Brown Ward in Southampton, which looks after children across the South Coast, having been diagnosed with cancer. We offer families, including bereaved families, financial support, practical help and the chance to have some fun filled memory making trips. As a family that has passed through through this ward, we are acutely aware of how traumatic it can be for both the child and their family. Everyone's lives are completely taken over by the diagnosis and their worlds are thrown into chaos as they sit and helplessly watch their child goes through the rigours of treatment. Your world becomes a series of hospital stays, appointments, awful treatments and general misery. Families are seperated, jobs have to be given up, the pressure becomes enormous. At Abby's Heroes, we aim to provide a family with support, be that financial or practical, personalised to each families requirements. Help with bills, buying equipment, or treating the family to a break, a chance to have some precious family time, are all covered by Abby's Heroes. Our daughter Abby died 29th May 2016, having been a patient on the ward since May 2013. She was a bright, sparkly, generous soul, much loved by her family and all those who were lucky enough to have met her. To continue our daughters memory, in her spirit, be a hero, make a difference and do something for someone else. No matter how small, or large, any donation is welcomed with love and appreciation.
