(UK, 208446) Browse eventsDRAGONFLIES @ FSN helps locally pre-bereaved and bereaved children and young people age 5-18 years to cope with loss by providing peer group support. To date 1200 local children and young people have been supported by Dragonflies who work with children and young people who have lost a parent, sibling, close relative or friend. Working in local schools and community venues, Dragonflies provides therapeutic activities delivered by trained staff and volunteers. FSN aims provide effective action without discrimination for children, young people and families suffering the effects of poverty, disadvantage, bereavement, neglect and abuse, supporting over 3000 individuals each year. FSN aims to empower and strengthen disadvantaged families living in Hastings and surrounding areas, equipping them with the necessary skills to improve their quality of life and fulfill their true potential whilst helping to raise aspirations, alleviate poverty, discrimination, social exclusion promoting equality and participation through a range of practical projects. Current projects include: My Time supporting children and young people suffering with complex issues such as self-harming, depression and low self esteem. Early Years projects helping 0-5 year olds take those first steps into the world of educational stimulating play to encourage the foundations to be laid for their futures. Family support through workshops and accredited training, all projects are designed to help families and children to cope in a rapidly changing society.
