The reconstruction of the masjid was completed just before Ramadan 1424 AH. (16 October 2003), within 16 months. The project cost the community approx £2.5 Million and the majority of money was raised locally. The Madressah has approx 300 Boys and Girls from the ages of 5 to 18 years attending and runs Monday to Friday. Our aim is to teach children about Islam and ti Instill in them the ethos of Islam, equip all to to face and deal with the pressures of the times we live in and prepare their young hearts and minds so as to make them proud of the peace-loving religion they follow. Masjid-E-Umer is the hub / focus of the community and seeks to educate believers on the whole range of issues. It is a place for contracting marriages, a place to find comfort and solace at times of grief and bereavement, a forum to request practical and financial aid for charitable causes. The Masjid provides men and women with opportunities to support and serve the whole community teachings, hosting visits from schools, colleges and provide help and guidance to various service providers. The Masjid also plays an important role in areas of regeneration, health and education. The Masjid helps connect diverse groups of people and is an active participant within all faith communities.
