Our aim is to reach people who may be excluded from mainstream ESOL courses. What we doEnglish for Action provides practical community-based English classes to students of all levels, ages and nationalities in London. The classes cover more than English language; they offer training and advice relating to jobs and everyday difficulties faced by members of London’s non-English speaking community. Interview practice, how to fill in application forms and employment rights are examples of ideas that have proved popular.We believe that better language skills will enable many migrants to put more into, and get more out of, life in London. They will be better equipped to effect positive changes in their homes, communities and workplaces.We work in partnership with local organisations to set up ESOL and literacy courses in venues which are accessible and at the heart of the communities in which we work, such as workplaces, faith institutions, schools and community centres.Our MissionWe want all people in London to have equal opportunity to access and use services and networks to improve their lives.Our mission is to give people the language, knowledge and networks to change their lives and communities for the better. Home-Start Sutton Coldfield's vision is to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their child the best possible start in life. We aim to prevent breakdown in families, ensure children are safeguarded and help parents to build better lives for their children in their own communities by providing early intervention support. The types of crisis our families suffer, range from domestic abuse, severe financial hardship, post natal depression, isolation, poor/inadequate housing, drug and alcohol abuse, disability, bereavement from the loss of a partner/parent, we also have some foster parents that participate in our activities to enable the child in their care to socialise with children of their own age.
