The school’s population of 250 children come from a range of backgrounds including naval, industrial, professional, rural and welfare components in the local community. A significant number of community volunteers, of all ages, support H.P.S. with their time and expertise throughout the year in classrooms and additional projects. School Council is highly supportive in the organisation, resourcing and management of school programs, grounds and facilities.

(UK, SC043128) We take disadvantaged young people (14-22 years old) on day, weekend and week-long walks/expeditions in the Scottish hills and wilderness areas. Our aim is to work with individual groups of young folk over a period of time in order to fully develop their potential. We have a trainee leadership programme whereby suitable young people will be encouraged to develop their leadership skills. Stevenson Adventures SCIO was launched in May 2012 at the NTS Centre in Glencoe. In keeping with our connection to the Stevenson Way and the book Kidnapped, by Robert Louis Stevenson, we had a re-enactment of Recoats hunting David Balfour and Allan Breck through the heather - great fun!
