(AU, 54462854410) e.motion21 is Australia's only community based not-for-profit provider of evidence-based dance, fitness and performance programs for youth with Down syndrome. It was founded in 2009 by Cate Sayers after she was unable to find an appropriate dance class to meet the learning needs of her daughter Alexandra, who has Down syndrome. The organisation's vision is to enhance lives and change perceptions of Down syndrome within society through dance, fitness and performance. We achieve this vision through the philosophy of Moving Bodies and Moving Boundaries: Moving bodies; providing weekly programs to children and young adults within supportive and social environments tailored to meet the specific learning needs of people with Down syndrome. Moving boundaries; creating opportunities to engage positively with individuals, families and communities through programs, performances and media to uncover new potential, promote understanding and raise expectations. e.motion21 recognises that as a largely volunteer run organisation our ability to provide world class programs to unlock the potential of youth with Down syndrome, raise expectations and push away societal boundaries is dependent on the generosity, support and endorsement of many.
