The purpose of this program is to help individuals with epilepsy to connect and fight; to ensure not another moment is lost to seizures. To offer education about seizure recognition, seizure first aid and increase understanding about epilepsy in general. To help combat the isolation often associated with epilepsy and to encourage individuals and families to start opening their windows to the world without feeling vulnerable. To establish a principle that epilepsy creates unity and builds strong bonds. We need to educate people on what to do and what not to do when someone is having a seizure, to encourage concerned authorities to take action to improve the lives of people with epilepsy and to provide communities, schools and workplaces with sessions, courses, seminars and presentations to educate on the basics of epilepsy.
JWI works to ensure that all women and girls thrive in healthy relationships, control their financial futures and realize the full potential of their personal strength. One in four women will experience abuse in her lifetime – as early as her teens. We design innovative programs to protect the security of women and girls, from healthy relationship education for teens, to economic literacy for women of every age. Organizations turn to us for critical resources and training, delivered through national and local forums, that empower professionals, advocates and clergy to end domestic violence and protect the fundamental rights of women. At the grassroots level, at the United Nations and on Capitol Hill, our advocacy agenda is centered on violence prevention and reproductive rights. We convene the Interfaith Coalition on Domestic Violence, gathering the larger faith community as a key partner in education and prevention. And we engage Jewish women across the country in creative grassroots efforts – working with their members of Congress through our national advocacy network, and lending their unique energy to programs that educate their communities about critical issues. Our current philanthropic initiatives reflect our long-held and long-term commitment to transform at-risk young lives into healthy, productive futures. Our National Library Initiative and Mother’s Day Flower Project bring resources and support to battered women and their children.
