(UK, 1012346) The Ulysses Trust, Patron HRH the Prince of Wales, is a UK-based charity that provides financial and other assistance to the country’s Cadets and Volunteer Reserves to undertake physically and mentally challenging projects both at home and overseas. Our support for Cadet and Reservist adventurous training may involve expeditions which are adventurous or community-related in nature, which expand the horizons and add to the personal development of those taking part. The Ulysses Trust is a volunteer-run organisation, led by individuals with their own extensive experience of such activities and of the profound impact they can have for those who might otherwise never have such opportunities. There are 130,000 cadets in the UK, and in a recent survey, 70% stated that adventurous training was the highlight of their Cadet experience. Other research has also shown that for some young people from disadvantaged environments, joining a cadet unit was what gave them a route to becoming fully contributing members of society. In almost 20 years, support from the Ulysses Trust has helped make a difference to over 20,000 young lives. Our principle objective is to promote awareness and understanding between what may appear to be two very different cultures. Through a process of experiencing something of each other’s lives we seek to promote friendship and a realisation of what people have in common.
