YTD Raised: $0.00The purpose of Hearts in Union Rugby Foundation Australia (“Hearts in Union”) is expressed in the phrase: Hearts in Union is a charity that is all about assisting those players who have suffered severe spinal injury during a rugby game. Rugby is a wonderful game played by people who enjoy the spirit of “mateship” and “fair play”. Unfortunately, some players through a freak accident have their lives changed forever. Spinal injuries place a physical, emotional and financial strain on the player for the rest of their lives. We aim to ensure those severely injured players who are suffering financial hardship receive the best possible support throughout their lives. Hearts in Union was created in early 2007, after the Directors had became aware of the need for assistance through a friend, Rocky Mileto. Rocky suffered a severe spinal injury during a rugby game in 1996 and has subsequently rebuilt his life and been an inspiration to many other injured rugby players. However, as a result of his injury, like other injured players, Rocky must replace his method of transportation (his wheelchair) every five years. These wheelchairs need to be custom made, are very expensive and simply beyond the reach of many injured rugby players. The reality was that most countries with strong rugby communities (including the United Kingdom, New Zealand & South Africa) had recognised the ongoing need to assist their injured rugby players. Independent charitable organisations had long been established in each of these countries. However, injured Australian players lacked any such direct support of their own.

YTD Raised: $0.00At the heart of all of the Friendship Circle’s programming is the belief that each and every individual can be a productive member of the community and benefit from the social support offered by one’s peers. Friendship, acceptance and a chance to participate in socially accepted bonding opportunities are critical to achieving this type of inclusive society. The Friendship Circle aims to provide children and teenagers with special needs and their families with many of the social and recreational opportunities that are currently available to the general community. These experiences are essential building blocks for an individual to acquire confidence and self esteem and to ultimately lead a productive adult lifestyle. We envisage a world in which people with special needs and their families experience acceptance, inclusion and friendship as contributing members of society. The Friendship Circle aims to create an environment for teens that will nurture and inspire them with meaning, purpose, and self-value; a sense of connection to and responsibility for the greater Jewish community through innovative and stimulating programs. We see this as essential to developing and producing the members and leaders of tomorrow’s Jewish community.

YTD Raised: $0.00Chidlow Primary School is a lovely rural school, surrounded by Jarrah and Marri forests thirteen kilometres east of the Mundaring township and three kilometres from Lake Leschenaultia. This is a very tranquil setting, being on the outskirts of the town and backing onto an A class reserve. The school is located fifty five kilometres east of Perth, just off Great Eastern Highway. Chidlow Primary School has a catchment area that extends from Gidgegannup to the north and east to Wooroloo and The Lakes. The school is well equiped with a new administration building, library and arts/music centre. There are two main teaching blocks, a junior block including a purpose built Pre-primary with an enclosed playground, and a senior block. The spacious playground includes, a junior and senior playground, netball/basketball courts and oval. Four buses service Chidlow Primary School with 25% of the children using this facility, with all buses providing a shuttle service to Eastern Hills Senior High School for secondary students. The students at Chidlow are predominately from the township or small acreage homes located close to town. Parents commute to Midland and Perth or are employed in a number of local industries. The staffing at Chidlow Primary School is fairly stable and includes a range of teaching experience from graduate to teachers who have taught for more than 30 years . A number of the teaching staff have been at the school for six years or more and live locally in the Hills environment. The staff work collaboratively together and are dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, caring learning environment for all students. Chidlow Primary School has six classes that comprise a total enrolment of around 170 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. A Community Kindergarten is located only minutes away on Northcote Street. The school enjoys a positive reputation in the local communinty as a good school and parents are involved in many school activiites and support the learning programs in numerous ways.

The Men’s group works with a number of other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations to provide a quality service to the community. As New South Wales has the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in Australia it is important to ensure that we are providing strategies and procedures that are in line with the community needs. Our members of Babana come from a wide range of networks and locations within the Greater Sydney region and the formation of networks that occur as a result of our events and meetings ensure that we are well aware of what the community is seeking in terms of employment, education, housing and wellbeing. Babana works with the local community to help to better the lives of both Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal members of the Sydney area Babana is open to all Men in the Greater Sydney area who want to see positive change in our community. Our Monthly Meetings and our Shed are Alcohol and Drug Free!!!
