 Alchemy Charitable Trust: Alchemy Charitable Trust (ACT) has been established to provide support and assistance to families and individuals living in East Sussex who face exceptional need. Our approach is discreet, positive, and practical. We hope that ACT can make a difference to the lives of the families and individuals who receive our help. We have all encountered times in our lives when we have faced unexpected financial demands, pressure or hardship when, no matter how hard we have tried, worked or saved, we simply cannot find the funds or help needed to resolve the problem. For some, family or friends, the State or other charities are able to provide the necessary support but for others their needs fall outside the usual parameters for State or charitable assistance and there appears to be nowhere else to turn. We hope that ACT can make a difference to the lives of the families and individuals who receive our help, by enabling them to overcome their short-term needs. We trust that providing that little extra support we can enable people to face the future again with renewed optimism. Support is through gifts in kind i.e. a donation of the actual goods or service required or in certain circumstances a grant of financial assistance. Very often these grants can help to prevent an immediate crisis from spiralling and threatening the stability of families and individuals. Even where these families and individuals are tackling complex and difficult issues, a small grant or practical gift can make a big difference.

Stuart Park Primary School first opened in 1966 in the inner city suburb of Stuart Park. The school is in a fast growing area and, with the addition of new suburbs adding to its catchment over the years, the school is planning for the expected continuing growth. The school now services Stuart Park, Bayview, Tipperary Waters, Woolner and Winnellie and is a great mix of old and new Darwin. The school has always been a central part of the community and there are second and even third generations of children attending. Stuart Park School is indicative of the multi-cultural nature of Darwin, its children coming from many differing backgrounds with good representation of the local Greek and Chinese and more recently the Filipino families and there are 33 national languages spoken by the children in the school. A group of children travel by ferry and bus each day from across the harbour on Cox Peninsula. The school now has an enrolment of about 650 students with 75 of these being in the preschool. There are 26 primary classes from Transition to Year Six. People often comment on the well kept grounds and gardens and the school is nestled deep in the suburb of Stuart Park and is an important part of this community.

The Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride is a unique event that not only sees riders battle the bitumen or dirt across Cape York but also ensures that monies raised by the event support the ‘bush kids’ who live in the very locations we ride through. Over the last 16 years this event has raised in excess of $850 000 that has been used to upgrade facilities and provide educational opportunities for students who live in some of the remotest parts of the state. Wish One of the Jellybean Kids' Appeal for a child-friendly A&E area is complete, with the new Children's Emergency Department up and running. Wish Two, for extra equipment for sick and premature newborn babies in the Neonatal Unit, has also been recently completed with the provision of £80,000 worth of extra high-tech equipment ensuring that every baby has the best possible start in life. And we are pleased that Ronald McDonald House Charities have agreed to fund a seven-bedroom parents accommodation unit at a cost of £750,000 completing Wish Three, but the appeal still has one more wish to achieve. The Jellybean Kids' Appeal is now raising funds for Wish Four? child friendly elements and equipment within a new Child Assessment Centre, especially for children with complex needs. The Multi Disciplinary Team assesses the development of over 400 children each year, and having a great, child-friendly environment will put children at ease - and with the children, parents, brothers & sisters all happier, successful assessments are easier too.
