YTD Raised: £31,313.10

Blossom Trust is a UK registered charity (no. 1145318) was started in the year 2012. The primary mission is "Enabling communities by educating children and empowering women." The trust started with a motivation to help disadvantaged children and has since expanded projects into education, mental health and empowering women to achieve this objective. Women and children have been through unimaginable struggles, several of whom have been victims of catastrophic effects of the civil war in Sri Lanka. Most of the families are headed by widowed women who are living in extreme poverty. Trust wants them to sustain their livelihood by allowing them to gain regular income and reduce their dependency on others by sustainable water facilities and from growing coconut plantation & other cash crops. By strengthening and sustaining their own household income, the war affected women will have an increased opportunity to lead a more independent family life. Trust is also committed to support underprivileged undergraduate students from Northern and Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka who abandon their degree courses due to lack of funds for their upkeep.

YTD Raised: £31,278.14

Bright Futures UK supports young people who are forced to take time out from education due to medical circumstances. Bright Futures UK supports young individuals through a period of illness by providing educational, social and professional support. We help young people bridge the gap to minimalize the effects caused by taking time out of education. Every young person has dreams, why should illness stand in their way? At Bright Futures UK, we understand from first-hand experience the pressure young people experience when faced with illness. We aim to minimize the disruption caused and help our young individuals build their skills, as well as their confidence. This is so that the transition back to normality is as smooth as possible, with the least amount of disruption to educational and social life. In 2017, we will be launching our first workshops and mentoring programs! Our mentoring programmes are tailor made to fit the needs of both mentors and mentees, whilst our workshops will be split into two categories; ‘alternative’ and ‘skill based’.We will also be offering tutoring services for young individuals continuing with their studies, as well as counselling services for those who need that extra support. As we expand, so will what we offer.Bright Futures UK is ready, are you?!
