Team Jak provides practical, social and emotional support to children and young people with cancer and related illnesses age 0 to 25, their family, friends and those bereaved. Inspired by inspirational teenager Jak Trueman, whose life was sadly cut short following a short and aggressive battle with a rare form of blood cancer, Jak wanted no other child or family to face the isolation and fear tackled daily following diagnosis and during treatment, and set out clear aims on how to provide support for young people, their families and friends, with special mention of siblings. Team Jak provides support from Jak's Den mark 2 HQ in Livingston and has a number of Satellite Dens where putting smiles on faces and creating magical moments are at the fore and where children and families can share together and accept practical social and emotional support through various counselling and alternative therapies, support groups and fun activities. Team Jak also provide outreach support to the relevant hospitals and wards associated with our warrior and angel families, and any young person at home unable to access the Den.
The aim for our students is to be ‘Learning, Achieving and Growing Every Day’; constantly challenged and inspired. We strive for the development of the whole person in every child to be a well balanced citizen with an inquiring mind and a healthy body.
SiMBADalmatian HouseSpott RoadDunbarEast LothianEH42 1LETel:01368860141email: [email protected] is here to make a difference. To honour babies who have died, been stillborn or miscarried. To help gather timeless memories. It wasn’t so long ago that when a baby died it was taken away, no touch, no cuddles, no time together............no memories. SiMBA is about memories. We help you to gather precious items for your Memory Box which we provide. We understand the importance of spending time with your baby in our Family Room. Adding a leaf on a Tree of Tranquillity shows that you are not alone in your loss, and acts as a place to remember and reflect. Our aim is to supply the precious Memory Boxes to every Maternity Unit in who wants them; to provide a Family room in every Maternity Unit where possible and to provide a Tree of Tranquillity in every Maternity district as a symbol of remembrance to babies and to show parents that they are not alone. Our web site provides information and latest charity news including the Maternity Units we supply Memory Boxes to; what hospitals have a Family Room and where the locations for the Tree of Tranquillity’s are and where we are next planning to have them. To request a leaf for a Tree of Tranquillity please refer to the contact us page of our webs site or email your name, address and Tree that you would like a leaf for to [email protected] The web site also has information on recent fundraising events by the SiMBA Team and our supporters.
