The Maypole Project provides unique emotional support that is ongoing, flexible, responsive, professional and confidential. Each family is supported by one of our key workers who are specifically trained and supervised to offer emotional support, which ranges from befriending to counselling or therapy. The group is entirely made up of volunteers and we rely on the help and support of everyone in the community. Our main service is to provide free transport to any cancer sufferer to all major hospitals in our area e.g. Wansbeck, Newcastle, Borders General and Edinburgh for any cancer related appointment. Although the medical care these babies get is amazing, what happens to the parents who are living day by day sometimes hour by hour not knowing whether their tiny, poorly baby will survive - We Do! Primarily based at the two neonatal units in Leicester, we have Family Support Workers who are in daily contact with all new parents at the hospitals, giving them the support and help they need to get them through the very traumatic emotional time of having a special care baby.

Nathan Hau is an inspirational young boy with a very rare condition of AADC deficiency who also suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Nathan is one of only 100 diagnosed children around the world and the only one in Australia. We want to raise funds to sponsor Nathan's treatment in 2014 which will hopefully enable him to hold up his own head, possibly swallow or even allow him to speak.
