(UK, SC048128) Browse eventsThank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Cycling Without Age Scotland is an inter-generational project to help isolated and/or elderly people from care homes or their own home get outdoors, socialise and feel good about themselves. We aim to transform the lives of elderly people, bringing them closer to the environment through outdoor trips on Trishaws with local volunteer pilots (Trishaw drivers). We focus on recruiting young people as volunteer pilots, but volunteers are not exclusively young people. We help to build bridges between generations and reinforce trust and respect. Accessing the outdoors socially, creates happiness among elderly people by providing them with an opportunity to remain an active part of society and the local community. Trishaw rides give elderly people the right to wind in their hair, to experience their local community, see nature from a Trishaw and giving them an opportunity to tell their story in the environment where they have lived their lives. Please donate to support our cause.Life does not end when you turn 75. Life unfolds at all ages, young and old, and can be thrilling, fun, sad, beautiful and meaningful. Cycling Without Age is about letting people age in a positive context – fully aware of the opportunities that lie ahead when interacting in their local community. Volunteer pilots encourage meaningful social contact between the generations, actively build relationships with isolated and vulnerable elderly people and offer opportunities for them to tell their stories and socialise in their local communities. Volunteers learn new skills like Trishaw maintenance, enhance existing skills and social skills.Slow cycling is a key principle of Cycling Without Age Scotland and ensures pilots, passengers, pedestrians and other road/path users have good experiences when being part of or meeting a Cycling Without Age Scotland local group. We tell stories and listen to stories while on the Trishaw, helping to create a multitude of new relationships: between generations, among the elderly, between pilots and passengers, nursing home employees and family members. Relationships build trust, happiness and quality of life. (UK, 1078465) Browse eventsThis is the fundraising page for 'The Valley Room', a new building which will provide additional learning space needed for Valley Road Primary School. Our target is £40,000. We have made a good start and raised £8,000 so far but need help raising more funds. The new room we would like to build will be called ‘The Valley Room’ and will be a multi-use learning space but it will predominately be used for music lessons, the Breakfast and After School Club and 1:1 learning which is so important for the children. Currently music lessons and 1:1 learning can happen in far from ideal locations such as in corridors or meeting rooms. This room will also be used by the local community too during non-school time by holiday and music clubs and so it will not just benefit the School children but the wider community too.
