Every year Northsound Cash for Kids strive to raise over £500,000 to make grants to individuals, families, children’s groups, organisations and projects throughout the Northsound transmission area. We believe that all children should life to the full and we aspire to help children and young people reach their individual potential. Our main priority is supporting sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people throughout the north east of Scotland. We support children with mental, physical or sensory disabilities, behavioural or psychological disorders, living in poverty or situations of deprivation, or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect. Throughout the year there are many events which generate the vital funds that contrubute to the deserving causes. Some are organised by Northsound Cash for Kids, while many others come from individuals, listeners and organisations who want to help. Richmond Crossroads Care service provides individually tailored support to Carers and people they support. Most of us juggle busy lives, but if you also look after a relative or friend who is ill, frail or disabled, you probably find it extremely difficult to have a full life of your own. Richmond Crossroads provides Care support workers to take over the caring tasks, giving the Carer a much needed break thus providing care for people in their own homes or take people out into the community. They run The Caring Cafe where Carers and people affected by dementia can meet for a light lunch in the company of others in a similar situation. They also run two Saturday Clubs for children with special needs giving parents a break and the children the opportunity to have fun in their own club and environment. In addition they have a Young Carers with special needs project called "Time Out' for children who need to take a break from their caring role.
