(UK, SC046319) We are a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation working across the UK to raise awareness of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks and aiming to provide support and advice for sufferers, their families and supporters, and a resource for the medical profession. A CSF leak is a serious and often incapacitating medical condition where a hole forms in the membrane that contains the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. It can occur in the head or spine as result of trauma, surgery, an underlying disorder or spontaneously.When fluid leaks out, pressure and volume reduces in the skull which allows the brain to sag. As are result, sufferers often experience severe head pain, pressure, visual disturbance, hearing impairment, tinnitus, spasms, seizures and a range of other symptoms.Research shows that at least 5 in 100,000 people are affected by spontaneous CSF leaks, with many more suffering from iatrogenic leaks. The condition is generally underdiagnosed, with misdiagnosis of migraine, sinusitis, NDPH and other headache disorders being common. Our mission is to promote awareness of CSF Leaks, to support better access to much needed help, support and information and help to improve access to fast, appropriate treatment and care. YTD Raised: £5,503.00Smile for Joel was founded by Suzanne Richards, who lost her son, brother and father in the terrorist attack in Tunisia in June 2015. This charity has been set up in their honor and in memory of all those that never came home. Funds raised go to VS to help support families effected by murder and terrorism. Our Story On 26 June 2015 Suzy's family went on holiday but her son Joel, dad Pat and brother Ade were tragically killed along with 27 other British people during a terrorist attack. Her youngest son Owen was the sole survivor and is a true inspiration. Smileforjoel has grown from strength to strength and provides very needed support to shattered/ broken families who are victims of traumatic bereavement through homicide. Suzy says “Losing three beloved members of your family to a terrorist attack is unimaginable and is something that no person should ever have to go through. Smileforjoel is a tremendous way to remember them. Through their legacy, they will bring hope to so many people’s lives. Their names will not be forgotten”. Suzy & Owen want to thank everyone for their continued support.

We do this by bringing researchers in all fields and patients of all disorders together to share ideas and to deliver results. In 2014 we plan to raise £250,000 to kick-start trials for treating brain tumours.

Having migrated to the UK from India, via East Africa in the 1960s, they saw the power of education in driving their children to successful and happy lifestyles. They sought to replicate these opportunities amongst poor children constrained by poverty via The Bhardwaj Trust. The funds of the Trust, raised through the generosity of contributions from friends and family, have helped many children over the years to achieve and education, get a good living, and help to bring their families out of a poor living. The administrative expenses in running the Trust are borne privately by the Trustees and all the funds raised go towards the objects of The Bhardwaj Trust.
