The fundamental aim of The Shed is to provide a safe, inclusive, non-judgemental, and inviting location where men & women can get together to do any or all of the following: - • Meet other Shed Men & Women – There are separate sessions for both men and women to ensure that members have the choice of single sex sessions. We also hold a mixed session, enabling the sharing of different skill sets. • Learn and/or develop new practical skills. • Develop and enjoy hobbies. • Share existing skills with other Shed Men & Women • Make and repair items for themselves or others in the community. • Make a contribution to society by engaging in community-based projects. All of these are pivotal in reducing isolation and feelings of loneliness, increasing the feeling of personal fulfilment, providing a sense of belonging, a sense of purpose and a real benefit to mental health and wellbeing.
Through the power of Jesus Christ and the participation of the individual, we provide access to opportunities that connect people to resources to create health and community sustainability in 3 ways: reliable income, safe and affordable housing, and healthy relationships.
