The Isubilo Community Resource Centre was established in May 2000 and has recently celebrated their 10th Anniversary.HIV/AIDS in Zambia has a severe impact on the social structure of the community in a country with already very low employment. The limited social and health services available in Zambia are submerged, cemeteries are overcrowded the funerals are a daily part of life.Thousands of orphans are left to a diminishing number of carers with an increasing number of child headed families. Already struggling families who are under great pressure are having to take in relatives’ orphans, some grandmothers having to care for all their grandchildren with no means to sustain them.Consequently child abuse and neglect is increasingly common in Zambia and despair and destitution is a hallmark of many communities.

We also offer a rape crisis service for male and female survivors of sexual violence.Survivors provides a unique service to both male and female survivors. For too long, society’s reaction to rape and historical sexual abuse has been to ignore it and to instruct the victim to do likewise even though its high prevalence and the resulting all too frequent development of chronic post-traumatic stress disorder make this problem one of the most difficult to resolve.

It moved to the present site in Bramhall in 1984. Our school motto, ‘Small steps,giant strides’ captures our belief that with the right help and support, children are capable of great progress,and we see evidence of this each day in our school.In 6 of our 7 classes the school now caters for children with complex and severe special educational needs, including autism. The seventh class, our inclusive nursery, is a special feature of the school, where our very youngest pupils, irrespective of their needs and abilities, can learn together in an environment that celebrates achievement - whatever your starting point.
