(UK, 1125483) Street Kids International:Catalyst for Better Lives Millions of young people globally are forced by circumstanceto live and work on the street. Street Kids International UK provides these youth with skill development opportunities that can unlock their potential and help them to build a better future. We do this by training local youth workers to deliver business training to youth in their own communities and languages; ensuring that content is culturally appropriate and contextually relevant. This training helps street youth to start and expand small businesses, to start saving money and to work towards a better lives for themselves and their families. Many young people who receive our training are motivated to return to education, get a job, reunite with estranged families, or to share what they've learnt with others. By drawing upon the resilience, skills and abilities of street youth, we make a real difference to the future of some of the world’s more vulnerable young people. Street Kids International is a charity registered in the UK, Canada and the USA. We have 25 years’ experience supporting marginalised youth in over 60 countries.

The baale provides shelter and a loving home for girl children. The girls are either orphans, have a single parent who is unable to care for them or have lost contact with their parents.

YTD Raised: €0.00Hospice Jinja was founded in 2005 as a response to the unmet need for palliative care of patients with cancer and advanced HIV/Aids in Busoga region of Uganda(pop 5 mill) The service model of hospice in place is home based care, Patients live at home and access the service at locations suited to their needs. These vary from outreach clinics(35) ,roadside clinics,local hospitals and home visitation. The Ugandan staff 10 are trained in palliative care. To help the team 250 community volunteers have been trained to identify and monitor the patients best suited to the service. Two drivers travel long distances each day in very poor road conditions. Vehicle maintenance especially in rainy season is a challenge.The majority of the patients are very poor. The poorest of the poor are supported by a comfort fund which allows them to buy basic food needs,maize meal. Volunteer Irish doctors Frank and Patricia Hassett have been involved with the project from the beginning, helping with every aspect of the service, including funding and staff education. Activity levels have increased year on year. Palliative care has been provided to approx 50000 over past ten years.Cancer prevalence in Africa has increased by 50% in recent years. Unlike in the developed world people do not have access to investigations and curative treatment thus present to hospice with advanced disease. All donors are remembered in the Morning Prayer. All deceased donors are remembered during Annual Memorial Day.
