The Acts of Hope Charitable believes that education is the best way to combat poverty, prejeudice and disadvantage. Our mission is to educate the children of the urban poor in South India. Our children live in some of the most deprived, disadvantaged and downtrodden communities in the world. We teach kids from the age of five through seventeen. Our school in Kasavanahalli now looks after 400 children. Acts of Hope integrates with the local community and hires local qualified, professional teachers. We have a network of supporting schools in the UK and we welcome guests and gap year students to the school.
Harry and Matthew are 4 year old twins who have known little other than discomfort and pain, all their lives, due to severe allergies and eczema. The boys lust for life and love to entertain everyone around them and even though they are in a lot of pain, they just get on with it – they know no different! They live off prescription formula, have an EpiPen with them at all times and require constant and high level care. We are seeking assistance to raise funds to provide help and support to the boys, to include treatment at Avéne, France.
The Sikh Association Manchester is a registered charity that aims to foster the improvement in community cohesion, economic, social, health and emotional well being in Manchester and Greater Manchester through educational activities within the framework of the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The Sikh Association actively participates in the Vaisakhi Celebrations in the city which include a Nagar Kirtan and a family sports day for the sikh community of Manchester. We hold weekly prayer meetings on Saturdays, celebrate Sikh Festivals and welcome educational visits from school and other institutions on week days. The Association manages the Central Gurdwara and is currently involved in projects to develop the facilities at the Gurdwara so that they can best meet the needs of the congregation. The gurdwara is now looking to improve access for the disabled and elderly. We are currently fund raising for acquiring and installing a lift to provide access to the Darbar Sahib for these members of our community. There is also work in progress to improve the Kitchen and heating system at the gurdwara at the present time.
