Fylde District Scout Council oversees the operational running of Scout Groups in Fylde District, West Lancashire. It also runs, operates, and maintains a campsite and activity centre of 5 acres in St. Annes. See our website for further details. In July 2010 we were hit by an arson attack which completely destroyed our main building comprising of an activity hall, showers, toilets, kichen and dormitory accommodation for up to 40 persons. We were hit by a second arson attack in March this year which destroyed our toilet and shower block for campers together with our workshop and garaging facilities for our grass cutters and tractor (which were also destroyed). Our insurers have taken on resposibility for the rebuild of this unit, and it is currently under way. In order to keep our campsite open we have had to purchase a portaloo unit from our own funds until the new toilets and showers are rebuilt. Meanwhile our aim is to have the new main building ready and fit for the twenty first century up and running by Easter 2012. Our modern accommodation this time will hold up to 56 persons on two floors, with a state of the art kitchen unit, showers, toilets, conference room, activity centre and a scout shop. See our website. Your help is vitally important to our cause, if you want a look around our facilities contact us through our website, and we will be only too happy to give you "The Grand Tour".
Our aim is to generate respect between the elderly and the young in order to connect the generations. Research shows there is little respect shown by the elderly for the young or by the young for the elderly. We try to do something about this sad state in our society by working for and with young people on any activity not being undertaken by other groups or organisations. We run an annual Art and Craft Exhibition to show off the skills and achievements of children in 14 of our local schools. This work is placed alongside art and craft produced by older groups such as Age Concern and Froxfield Over Sixties. Our seventh Exhibition will take place in July 2012 in the Festival Hall Petersfield. We raised £100,000 towards the cost of Phase 1 of our new skate park at Love Lane Recreation Ground, Petersfield which was opened in November 2010. Young people are now helping to design Phase 2 which will have an emphasis on providing features for young children learning to skate and disabled people in wheel chairs. Many of the skaters are helping to raise funds for Phase 2. We have set a Challenge for Year 11 students at The Petersfield School, after their GCSE Exams, to ride the SouthDowns Way from Winchester to Eastbourne ,a distance of 100 miles, in three days. The next challenge will take place in June 2012. We have raised money to send young people on Sail Training Association Adventure Training Courses in Tall Ships and to the Sail Training Centre at Calshot. We are developing plans with other youth orientated groups, to build a world class youth facility in Petersfield. Young people at Alton College, studying Graphic Design with Architecture have produced models of youth centres and BTEC students at Mill Chase Techinical College in Bordon have studied the ecological aspects of a new building and looking at heat pumps, light tubes, solar panels and the collection of rainwater to flush the toilets. This is an exciting project which will take a few years to develop. Our treasurer, Nigel Wells, is running in the London Marathon in 2012 and would be grateful for any sponsorship you may wish to offer.

Radheshyam Hope is a Hindu based Charity in Manchester with a motto "Nobody sleeps hungry tonight". RadheShyam Hope was created by a couple living in Manchester who were inspired by the local Hindu priest at Gita Bhavan Hindu Temple Manchester. The charity derives its name from the Hindu God – Krishna, only He who can give Hope to us all. The charity and its family of members believe in the principles of Karma – our good deeds are the only true possessions in our lifetime, the rest is transient or futile. Hindu scriptures mention – Daanam paramam Dharmam, helping someone selflessly is one of the highest forms of our duty. Since its inception in 2016, the charity has gathered steady momentum. The charity members are volunteers from different parts of the world living in the UK. RadheShyam Hope volunteers also take part in local events held at the temple. It is hoped that by sharing their views and goals with the greater community more people will realise that by working together we can make a big difference to the needy and the poor. The Brunswick Youth & Community Centre has a unique history. It was conceived in a World War II Prisoner of War Camp called OFLAG 79 in Brunswick, Germany, where a group of British officers considered their boredom and deprivation and realised that theirs was a situation familiar to young people in the cities of their homeland; young people for whom there existed few diversions and little prospect for escape. They resolved that on their release they would encourage young people to adopt the Brunswick Spirit to fight limitations and restraints imposed by their social environment, learn respect for one another and take the future into their own hands. Amongst these determined British officers were Michael Marshall, Philip Evans and Harry Mounsey, who upon their release from Oflag 79 camp fulfilled their promises and established the Brunswick Boys Club in Liverpool in 1948 To this day, the spirit of the Brunswick is undiminished. The Brunswick relocated to Marsh Lane, Bootle in 1964 and then redeveloped the centre in 1995 which has now become a landmark and community hub that every one knows as “The Brunny”. The Brunswick offers a wide range of services to support all elements of our community from general, open access centre-based junior and senior youth and community provision, Mothers and toddlers group and Ofsted Registered after schools provision, off site outreached and detached youth work and residential trips, to special projects and involvement in local regeneration initiatives, crime prevention measures and youth involvement in local decision making processes, intergenerational projects promoting community cohesion and the integration of different social group, pensioners social group and accredited training for all ages and social back grounds. The Brunswick also offers support for community and residents voices forums, and support for police and community engagement forums, and is currently developing a community garden.
