Unity Enterprise is a registered Scottish charity that was founded in 1989. Jump forward 28 years to 2017, we’ve dropped the enterprise from our name and be known as Unity as of April 2017.Over the years we have provided a variety of support services to people who are vulnerable, disadvantaged or at risk of exclusion across the West Of Scotland. We provide a range and quality of services which empower individuals, enriches their lives and enables them to achieve positive outcomes. This includes training, supported work experience, advocacy, guidance and support, personal development, education and social activities for young people and adults experiencing disabilities and disadvantages. We have also recently added Glasgow Soup to our Portfolio. Based on an idea which originated in Detroit in 2010, Glasgow Soup is a microgranting public dinner where people meet and vote to make local community-based projects and ideas a reality. Unity Carer Centers offer specialist information, support advocacy and advice. Respite away from the role in the form of day trips, health and wellbeing services, social activities and peer support from fellow carers.Empower provides support and development services to adults who are living with a learning disability or additional support needs. Our service works with the themes of the Keys to Life Learning Disability Strategy and covers health, travel, literacy and community inclusion. Work experience is provided in our Social Enterprise Spoon Cafes where new skills are developed in a supported environmentSpoon also hosts a “pay it forward” scheme whereby, thanks to the generosity of our customers, we can offer meals and takeaway food at no cost to people affected by homelessness and poverty or anyone else suffering a barrier from warm healthy food.
