We cater for all young people between 6 and 18 and provide them with a wide varied programme of activities to enable them to achieve badges and awards. They have a chance to participate in adventurous activities, learn lifelong skills, experience leadership and make friends. In fact, 1st Heworth is one of a few remaining Scout Groups that teaches its young members traditional camp craft skills. Our scouts can attend six camps each year which range from just a weekend to a full week. Here they learn to work in a patrol and build their own mini campsite. Whether it be full fried breakfasts or homemade fish and chips with apple crumble and custard everything is cooked over open wood fires. Here at 1st Heworth, we are always welcoming new members of all ages. So, whether you are new to the area, or just looking for something different to do please visit our website http://www.1st-heworth.org.uk for all the information you need. First and formost, our the foundations of our Scout hut need strengthening and the roof needs replacing. Through Cycle 1000 (http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/cycle1000) we are hoping to raise as much money as possible and every penny really does help. So, despite these credit crunching times, if you are able to spare a few pounds of your hard earned cash, please help the team!
