RSPCA WA was founded in 1892 and is the leading authority on animal welfare issues in WA. RSPCA WA is responsible, through our Inspectorate, for enforcing the Animal Welfare Act. We work with Government, industry bodies and the community to improve animal welfare and campaign on a range of issues such as puppy farming or illicit breeding, battery hens, sow stalls and live export. Last year RSPCA WA received more than 20,000 cruelty calls, investigated 6,000 cruelty complaints, provided 130,000 days of animal care and rehomed hundreds of animals. RSPCA is a charity and relies on fundraising activities for 94% of its funding. RSPCA upholds five freedoms for animals and believes all animals deserve freedom from: hunger and thirst, discomfort, pain, injury and disease and also from fear and distress.
