Happy Breed Foundation was set up to award grants to people on a low income who cannot afford to care adequately for their dogand also to award grants to other small reputable, registered, dog charitieswhich are struggling financially. Happy Breed Foundation wasoriginally Mid Sussex Happy Breed Dog Rescue Society which rescued stray andunwanted dogs from the Mid Sussex area for 60 years. During this time, in the course of our rescue work, we were repeatedly asked if we could help with veterinary costs. Unfortunately, at that time, we were unable to assist because of the high running costs involved in pursuing the rescuework which absorbed all available funds. When it was decided to changedirection to a grant awarding charity, Happy Breed Foundation was formed.At our invitation, localveterinarians, with whom we have excellent relationships, inform us of clients who they believe to have a genuine need for our help. After collecting further information regarding the circumstances of each request, careful consideration is given to each case with a view to deciding if financial assistance can be given.
