Plunkett Street Public School is located in the heart of Woolloomooloo, Sydney. Just minutes from the Sydney CBD the school is the hub of the local community and currently has 69 students enrolled from Pre-school to Year 6. Set in idyllic grounds and in a prime location the school is close to many outstanding resources including The Royal Botanic Gardens, The Domain and The Art Gallery of NSW which ensures that the students have access to an abundance of environmental and cultural experiences. Being a part of the Priority Schools Program, Plunkett Street Public School currently enjoys additional staffing, which assists in reducing class numbers, as well as increasing literacy and numeracy resources. This combination, in conjunction with the tireless efforts of the hardworking and dedicated staff ensures that all students receive a quality education across all Key Learning Areas which is directly tailored towards their individual learning needs. The school is also extremely fortunate to have an Aboriginal Education Officer on staff who assists teachers in educating all students about Aboriginal perspectives and Aboriginal history. She also works extremely closely with Indigenous students and their families. Plunkett Street Public School is actively involved with the local and wider community and has strong links with the local residents, the local PCYC and YWCA and Macquarie Bank. The school also shares a site with The Sydney Distance Education High School which results in the students participating in a range of programs taught by specialist teachers. The school, in partnership with the Red Cross and the law firm Malleson Stephen Jaques provides a Breakfast Club each morning. The club is open each morning from 8:30am-9:00am and is available to all students free of charge. After school care is also available to all K-6 students free of charge and is provided by the adjoining Juanita Neilson Centre. Plunkett Street Public School has a Pre-school on site which follows the Early Years Learning Framework and provides an excellent transition to Kindergarten program. Students can be enrolled from 3 ½ years of age and a maximum of 20 children can be enrolled at any one time. The Pre-school has three full time staff, including an Early Childhood Teacher, a School Learning Support Officer and a cook. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided. Plunkett Street Public School prides itself on providing a warm and inclusive environment for all students. Students are encouraged to excel and achieve at their maximum potential. The entire school community certainly epitomises the school motto of ‘Togetherness’.
We are a registered charity that offers support to vulnerable people in Edinburgh, Perth and Kinross, Angus and Dundee. Rowan Alba works with those whose lives are chaotic, often but not exclusively due to domestic abuse, drug or alcohol dependency or mental health issues. We recognise that a combination of these factors lead to homelessness, which is more complex than the lack of a roof over your head. We provide services to reduce the chances of people becoming homeless, or where this has happened, and people have been damaged by the long term consequences of this, to provide them with the ongoing care and support they need. Underlying everything we do are our core values of:- ACCEPTING people as they are SUPPORTING those ready to move to a more independent life INCLUDING people in society by the provision of ongoing care for those who are not ready, or whose life experiences have left them unable to live independent of support. Garrison Girls are on a mission to raise £5million to set up a permanent retreat where we can continue to offer treatment and support to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder sufferers and their families. We will be one of the first places in the UK to do this. Our focus is on supporting Military PTSD sufferers and their families; treating the family as a whole unit. The retreat will be able to offer a wide range of treatments to help them recover and overcome the trauma they have experienced. Our objective is to help stop the devastation of PTSD from breaking down a family and help ALL the victims of PTSD.
