The Saffron Resource Centre (SLNC) was establishedas a charity in 1975 to provide, in partnership with other statutory and voluntary agencies, a variety of support services for the benefit of the residents of the Saffron Lane Estate and adjacent neighbourhoods. We are acentrally located community resource, currently providing information, advice and advocacy, tenancy support, environmental work, detached youth work, mobility scooter hire, credit union banking facilities, sexual health and pregnancy counselling, Day Care for the elderly, specialist debt advice, family law, stop smoking support, youth activities, and drugs and alcohol counselling.We are recognised by residents and partner agencies as the place people come to when they need help or information. We have a reputation for being friendly and non-judgemental,where everyone is made welcome and feels valued The Charity runs multiple projects over several sites including:A 12-acre community based food growing an environmental project offering volunteering opportunities, food education, healthy life style awareness, training and the access to green open space, with all itsrelated health opportunities. Our daycare facility provides stimulating and challenging activities for elderly individuals in a safe and caring environment. Our clients all socially isolated and have severe health needs. This service provides clients and their cares with much needed respite. One of our busiest services is the Welfare Rights project, which has been providing free and independent information,advice, and advocacy to local residents for over thirty years. We hold the Advice Quality Standard for General Help with Casework in welfare benefits, and also provide general help with debt, housing, consumer, employment, and communitycare issues.
