The Friends for Mental Health East Kent is a charity that has supported people who are in contact with local NHS mental health services in East Kent for over 60 years. The Friends consist of volunteers who dedicate their time organising fundraising events and championing mental health related causes. Funds raised have been used to help those with mental health needs and their families has included providing material support to people when they leave hospital and setting up a new home, As well as the promotion and support of creative art projects, music therapy projects and physical health exercise equipment within inpatient services. The Friends also provide a trolly service to patients in NHS mental health wards in east Kent and manage the benefit funds on the behalf of NHS mental health wards and teams within the locality.
