Geebung Special School is one of only two Education Queensland special schools that cater specifically for primary aged students. It also has an Early Development Program for students of pre-primary age. All of Geebung Special School's students aged from birth to 12 years require significant educational support arising from intellectual and other disabilities.

The school aims to develop each student’s potential, catering for different styles of learning. The school follows the Australian Curriculum and the N.S.W. syllabus. It also incorporates Neo-Humanist Education and its principles, into all Key Learning Areas. Neo-Humanist Education, founded by P. R. Sarkar (1921-1990), fosters the understanding of the deep inter-connectedness between self, others and the natural environment. This respect continues to into the world of plants, animals and the earth’s eco system. Yoga, meditation and a vegetarian/vegan diet is an important and integral part of this education. Vistara Primary School students are passionate about making the world a better place.
